All are pulled into personal and political power struggles in which every choice—whether guided by duty, desire, or the quiet, true spirit within—carries world-altering consequences. Will it be enough to keep at bay the larger, hidden forces gathering to threaten the realm’s very existence?
The True Spirit Within is a morally complex medieval fantasy epic with an eight-season arc, where the fate of the world hangs not on magic or prophecy—but on whether the characters hear and heed their inner voice in moments of irreversible choice.

Through the eyes of a wide range of characters who navigate storylines that span oceans and continents and plotlines that play out on local, regional, and global levels, the series enables us to dive deep into a world just as vast as our own. As the series unfolds, we come to understand how a spark in one part of the world can affect life for millions of others on the other side.
At its core, the series faces its characters and its audience with a timeless philosophical question:
What is behind that little voice we sometimes hear inside when we come to an important crossroads in life and have to make decisions that will lead us down one of two paths? When choosing one path means life, or even the fate of the world, will turn out differently than it would have been had we chosen the other path?
What force speaks to us when logic, rules, expectations – and even emotion – fall silent, yet we are able to make a decision based on what we often describe as intuition or “gut instinct”?
Do we have a true spirit within us that we can trust to take over in situations like these and lead us down the path we are supposed to follow, that we are meant to take? And what happens to someone if their true spirit can no longer be heard?
The series aims to place us in a raw, gritty and unforgiving world that breeds extraordinary and strong, pragmatic, and complex characters – masculine or feminine, human or non-human – whose experience of these moments feel authentic and believable in a way that the audience can almost taste and smell what it is like to be with them in this realm.
The audience will get closer to understanding what that little voice does for us and what happens when it fails. Placing characters in moments of decision faced with impossible trade-offs means the series must be unafraid to be provocative and avoid simplistic ideas about good and evil, right and wrong, and modern sensibilities about appropriate behavior.
We seek support to augment substantial investment already made in the pilot season, with opportunities for supporters to get an insider’s view on the journey of creating and to be part of the True Spirit family.
The inaugural season has been developed and will leave viewers both satisfied and wanting more, because the world we've imagined is rich with untapped stories and characters whose journeys are only just beginning.
While our immediate goal is to bring the first season to life, we envision a multi-season journey that delves deeper into the intricate tapestry of this universe and develop characters and their complexity further, offering audiences an even more immersive experience.
